I have tried and failed many times with freezer cooking. I’ve even had a few successes with freezer cooking but mostly my issues have been trying to prepare all the meals while dealing with my littles. It’s not easy having to chop and prepare so many meals and then write down all the directions on the baggies and then freeze them.
So, I ended up giving up freezer cooking, yet again. And now with it being summer and constantly running around between swimming lessons, play dates, and family events I’m usually way too tired to cook a full meal.
Since we eat a primarily clean diet, it’s a bit of a challenge to find freezer meal plans that don’t contain a ton of processed ingredients like “cream of ______ soup”. But then I met Erin Chase (yes the famous $5 Dinners lady!) and she changed my world with her My FreezEasy program – her new freezer cooking meal plans.
She actually shows you via video how to freezer cook, how to thaw out the meals, and basically just holds your hand showing you how to make freezer cooking a success. The great thing is that her meal plans are customizable so you could pick some meals from the clean eating plan, some from the gluten free plan and some from the traditional plan.
It makes solving the “what’s for dinner” problem easier no matter what kinds of meals your family enjoys.
My process for freezer cooking
How I go about making freezer meals happen in my home:
I print out the grocery list, the instructions, and the labels for the freezer meals I’m planning to prepare for the week. I go shopping and then as soon as I come home I prepare the meals which takes me between thirty minutes and an hour.
Once the meals are prepared and in their respective baggies, I stick ‘em in the freezer on a plastic cutting board (so they’ll freeze flat) and finish putting up the rest of my groceries.
Easy peasy.
Seriously, that’s all that I do. And whenever it’s time to make one of the meals, the instructions are already there on the labels so all I have to do is thaw and cook and voila! A fresh, healthy meal ready to go!

Thank you for sharing this freezer cooking post, Jessi. It sounds SO simple, especially when I read that it takes you 30-60 minutes to prepare the meals for freezing! I wanted to try the freezer meals for some time now but never actually took the first step. But your post was the perfect encouragement to start.

Oh my goodness, I would LOVE to win this! I’ve been wanted to get into freezer cooking for forever, and now with baby #5 on the way it really feels like a necessity if I want to keep my family from eating fast food. Thanks for the chance! 🙂
